All is not Good for Pakistan

Since its inception, Pakistan has barely witnessed a lack of harmony among major state’s pillars: the legislative, executive and judiciary, subsequently, the whole nation is grappling with multiple crises. The looming mistrust and hunger for power had paralyzed the whole state institutions, which is witnessing from the contemporary socio-political landscape of the Land of the Pure. The controversial judicial decisions and the inculcation of laws and regulations in haste by the lawmakers, because of the influence of non-political forces to curtail a particular political party and its leadership for last two and half years had jeopardized the whole democratic process and the state economy, as well.

The rising social disillusionments more importantly the majority of the business community and the youth who had already left the country or in pursuit of visa process, owing to the ongoing political turmoil. According to the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan, more than 0.7 million educated and skilled youth, including doctors, engineers, IT experts and so for so forth had moved abroad, even the authorities had confessed: they are not capable enough to entertain the millions of application, as the trend is unprecedented. Moreover, our economy is also at loom large: the total forex reserves has depleting day by day, and the government is bowed down in front of global institutions, for merely a billion USD. Security situation is also exacerbating, with the increasing terrorist activities with-in the state, coupled with vulnerable relations with its neighbours: India, Afghanistan and Iran. The primary reason behind these troubles is political instability, which is instigated by the political parties, establishment, judiciary, and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The way out is quite simple. Political stakeholders have to sit together to develop a political consensus by overlooking their interests, considering that the direction of the wind can be changed in no time. The judiciary needs to undo its decisions for the revival of democratic ideals, the restraints shown by the judges for the last few months by subsiding the covert pressure, seem a silver line for the supremacy of law and justice. Lastly, the security forces have to stick with their constitutional mandate, their increasing roles in political maneuvering have jolted public trust and also the morale of the forces. Policymakers should have to work on an earnest basis to develop cordial relations among the citizens, army, and the government which is paramount for the existence of the whole nation, as rightly highlighted by Clausewitz, an 18th-century western philosopher, in his theory of trinity.
