Suicide Blast at Darul Uloom Haqqania Mosque in Akora Khattak Claims Five Lives, Including Maulana Hamid ul Haq

Nowshera: A suicide blast struck the Jamia Mosque of Darul Uloom Haqqania in Akora Khattak during Friday prayers, resulting in the martyrdom of five individuals, including Maulana Hamid ul Haq Haqqani, a central leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (S) and the deputy administrator of the seminary.
Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Zulfiqar Hameed, confirmed that the explosion was a suicide attack targeting Maulana Hamid ul Haq. Initially, four casualties were reported, with several others severely injured.
Authorities, including IG KP Zulfiqar Hameed and Chief Secretary KP Shehab Ali Shah, verified that Maulana Hamid ul Haq succumbed to the attack. Nowshera’s Deputy Commissioner, Irfanullah Mehsud, stated that Maulana Hamid ul Haq’s body was shifted to CMH Nowshera, and the death toll has risen to five.
According to Irfanullah Mehsud, the blast occurred near the mosque’s exit, commonly used by Maulana Hamid ul Haq after prayers to return home. The attack was timed precisely as he was leaving the premises.
In response to the tragic incident, an emergency has been declared at Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar. The LRH spokesperson confirmed that medical staff and administration have been placed on high alert, prepared to handle any emerging situation.
