Xi Jinping Calls on Top Party Officials to Drive Modernization and Reform Amid Global Challenges

Xi Jinping, who is general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), has asked top Party officials to take on new roles and start new projects to help modernize China.
Xi said those things after reading the annual work reports that top Party officials had just turned in to the CPC Central Committee and the general secretary.
The officials included people from the CPC Central Committee’s Political Bureau and Secretariat, as well as members of the leading Party members’ groups of the National People’s Congress, the State Council, and the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. There were also secretaries from the leading Party members’ groups of the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate.
Xi talked about how hard it is to move reforms and growth forward while keeping things stable. This year is the last year of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) and also a big year for deepening reform all over.
The general secretary urged people to firmly carry out the main policies and decisions made by the CPC Central Committee and meet the high standards set out in the 14th Five-Year Plan. This would help the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–30) get off to a good start.
Xi also said that people should react calmly to any problems that come up because of changing situations at home and abroad. He also said that people should speed up the creation of a new development pattern, deepen reforms all the way through, expand high-standard opening up, and support long-term economic growth and recovery.
Xi also told the officials to do more study and studies, follow the central Party leadership’s eight-point decision on better behavior, and be aware of their political duties for Party self-governance.
